InsureFinder
InsureFinder is a mobile health insurance platform designed to help young adults compare plans, understand costs, and choose coverage with confidence. The app simplifies complex insurance information through plain language, guided recommendations, cost transparency, and embedded education.
Project Description, My Role, and Outcome
InsureFinder was a UX design project focused on making health insurance easier for young adults to understand and navigate. The project responded to a key problem: many young adults face high uninsured rates, especially during life transitions such as aging out of parental coverage or entering the workforce. Even when coverage options are available, insurance terminology, fragmented information, and unclear cost structures often make decision making overwhelming.
The design challenge was to create a mobile app that transforms complex health insurance systems into a simpler, more guided experience. Through user research with young adults ages 18 to 30, including college students, recent graduates, freelancers, and part time workers, the project identified major user needs around clarity, cost transparency, personalization, and confidence.
The final concept includes onboarding, a personalized home dashboard, plan comparison tools, and a learning section. Key features include side by side plan comparisons, visible premium and deductible information, guided recommendations, glossary support, FAQs, and quick tips that help users learn while comparing plans.
My role as a solo designer included UX research, product strategy, feature ideation, interface design, AI assisted prototyping, and high fidelity design development. I created the core interface in Figma and used Figma Make to help generate and refine the interactive prototype experience. This workflow allowed me to move quickly from concept to screen, test layout ideas, and explore how AI supported tools can assist the design process while still requiring human direction, editing, and UX decision making.
I focused on creating a mobile first experience that reduced decision fatigue and made insurance language more approachable for first time users. AI tools were also used to support ideation, UX copy, feature refinement, and layout exploration, while Figma was used to polish the final visual system, interaction flow, and high fidelity screens.
The final outcome was a high fidelity mobile prototype and live web experience that helps users compare plans more clearly and make informed coverage decisions. The project showed that health insurance is not only a policy issue, but also a usability problem. By simplifying information and guiding users through each step, InsureFinder helps young adults feel more prepared, confident, and in control.
