Legend Lumens Product Design
LegendLumens by Blink is a conceptual lighting and packaging design project that reimagines lightbulbs as atmosphere creating tools tailored to different reading genres. The system includes three distinct lightbulbs, each designed to evoke a specific emotional tone, while sharing a cohesive brand and visual identity.
Project Description, My Role, and Outcome
This project challenged me to design and develop three unique lightbulb products that shared a common theme while introducing a concept that does not currently exist on the market. The goal was to explore product ideation, branding, and three dimensional packaging design while working within a strict project brief.
My concept, LegendLumens by Blink, approaches lighting as a storytelling tool. Each lightbulb is designed to create an atmosphere that complements a specific reading genre. For example, Intrigue enhances mystery and thriller narratives, while Flirt supports romance and love stories. Rather than focusing on brightness alone, the products emphasize mood, immersion, and emotional tone.
The project required designing physical packaging for three dimensional objects, which pushed my understanding of scale, structure, and visual hierarchy. I developed packaging that clearly differentiated each bulb while maintaining a consistent brand system across the set. Adhering to detailed project guidelines reinforced discipline in both design and decision making.
After completing the two dimensional design work, I translated the packaging into three dimensional mockups using Adobe Dimension. This phase focused on placing 2D graphics onto 3D forms and refining lighting, materials, and camera angles to accurately convey the product in context. Adjusting lighting settings was essential to create seamless, realistic renders that reinforced the atmospheric concept of the bulbs.
The final outcome was a cohesive set of branded lightbulb packages presented through polished 3D mockups. The project strengthened my skills in packaging design, brand consistency, three dimensional thinking, and digital visualization, and confirmed my interest in working with 3D design tools and spatial systems.
